One of the first REMOTE "trucks"

This is from Woody Robertson: (Click on Photo to enlarge)

By the way, I've been remiss by not updating you on one of the few members of our bunch who is still very active. Woody Robertson is probably the best example of that.

In my recent interview with Barry Levinson Barry reminded me that Woody was the director for most of those Ranger Hal shows that Barry worked on and said were such an important influence on his career. As I recall, in his book about his days at channel 9, "Sixty Six," Barry only mentions one director and that was Duke Struck, who directed most of those news shows...and their friendship got off to a rather rocky start when Duke "demoted" him and sent him to the "Siberia" of the TV shows, as Barry thought of it at the time, but which turned out to be one of the best moves of his career. Barry had a lot better luck with Woody. They hit it off immediately and still stay in touch.

Anyway, Woody continues to work as creatively and hard as ever at age 75. He's been developing new shows for the internet, the latest being www. allgolftv.com This year he directed the "Heritage Bowl" football game for ESPNU in California, then the Red Wings and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Not to mention his 7 years of directing the Detroit Lions football games and all the mini-documentaries for the SeniorPGA Tour sponsored by the Ford Motor Company.
And between all those assignments you'd think he'd rest just a bit. But NO.........just for fun, he played a small role in Clint Eastwood's new movie that is now being shot in Detroit!

I'm hoping he can take the time to join us in Thurmont this year, but spare time is hard to find for Woody these days!
